Cameron Menzies is an award-winning director and arts leader whose work spans opera, theatre, music theatre, cabaret, film, and community arts. Since March 2021, he has served as Chief Executive and Artistic Director of Northern Ireland Opera, where he has led a period of artistic ambition, critical success, and audience growth.

His work has been seen throughout the United Kingdom, Ireland, Europe, Australia, South Africa, Japan, and China. He has collaborated with organisations including Shakespeare's Globe, London Philharmonic Orchestra, Opera Australia, Victorian Opera, Sydney Theatre Company, Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Sydney Symphony Orchestra, and Diva Opera. Recent international credits include Divas and Disruptors: The Wild Women of the Weimar Republic starring Meow Meow at Carnegie Hall, New York, It's Come To This at London's Soho Theatre, and productions of Lucia di Lammermoor in both the UK and Australia.

A passionate advocate for inclusivity and access, Cameron has worked extensively across youth arts, arts and health, and community engagement. His projects have been developed in partnership with hospitals, schools, community organisations, and underrepresented groups, reflecting a long-standing commitment to ensuring the arts are accessible to the widest possible range of people.

For Northern Ireland Opera, Cameron has directed acclaimed productions including La Bohème (2021), Into The Woods (2022), La Traviata (2022), Tosca (2023), The Juniper Tree (2024), Cupid's Bow (2024), Eugene Onégin (2024), and Stephen Sondheim's Follies (2025). His production of Into The Woods won Best Production at the Irish Times Irish Theatre Awards, becoming the first musical to receive the honour in more than thirty years, before being remounted by West Australian Opera.

One of Cameron's most significant achievements at Northern Ireland Opera has been the creation of the Chorus Development Programme, which provides intensive training, mentorship, and performance opportunities for local singers. The programme has become a cornerstone of the company's commitment to developing Northern Irish talent and creating pathways into the profession, while strengthening the artistic quality of its main-stage productions.

In 2026 Cameron will direct the NI Opera’s production of Carmen and will direct the remount of his Eugene Onegin in Perth West Australian Opera.
