A graduate of the RSAMD, Glasgow University and the Royal Conservatoire of Music in Toronto, Jacqui Cameron has delivered instrumental teaching in numerous Scottish schools, performed as a flautist in a range of settings and worked in arts management; the latter including 10 years within the Learning and Participation Team at Sage Gateshead.

As Director of Learning & Engagement at Opera North, Jacqui is a member of the Senior Leadership Team, holding responsibility for the strategic direction of an award-winning programme of learning and participation activity across the North of England and beyond. Rooted in northern communities but global in outlook, the 50 strong Learning & Engagement team at Opera North Make Opera Vital by collaborating with professional artists to deliver operatic participative arts, and family and community-based performance activity, by, with and for people of all ages. Nominated in the ‘Education & Outreach’ category of the 2020 International Opera Awards, they were subsequently awarded the first Arts Council England Digital Culture Award for income generation, and named as winner of the Outstanding Musical Initiative category at the Music & Drama Education Awards, in 2022. The much admired In Harmony programme reaches almost 3,500 children and young people in 13 schools every week.
