Gareth is Chair of Mid Wales Opera for (too!) many years and is a passionate advocate of the importance of touring and of providing opportunities for singers in the early stages of their career.

Professionally, Gareth has worked mostly in or for the public sector. For 15 years he was the founder and Chief Executive of a social policy research company, undertaking evaluation of public policy in Wales, the UK and Europe, having previously worked in the Civil Service, the European Parliament and local government. After passing on the business in 2015, Gareth worked for five years as a Special Adviser to First Ministers Carwyn Jones and Mark Drakeford in the Welsh Government before attempting to retire for the second time (and failing again). He is currently the non Executive Vice-Chair of a Health Board.

Gareth is also a past Chair and keen volunteer with the Ludlow Assembly Rooms, a community arts centre in his home town. He is passionate about opera, classical and folk music, drama and film.
