Robin Norton-Hale is a multi-award-winning director and writer for theatre, opera and film, and the General Director of English Touring Opera. Opera productions include The Little Sweep/Let’s Make an Opera and La traviata for Malmö Opera, La bohème for Ravenna Festival and The Coronation of Poppea for English Touring Opera. She was the founding Artistic Director & Chief Executive of OperaUpClose, where her productions included the Olivier Award-winning production of La bohème, Carmen, La voix humaine and Maria Stuarda.
Robin has directed new writing for the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse and Chester’s Grosvenor Park Open Air Theatre, and Shakespeare for Southwark Playhouse. She has written new English translations for seven operas, while her writing for children includes two original librettos (Peace At Last and Tutankhamun’s Shoes), a play (The Mince Pie Mice) and a musical (Sammy & the Beanstalk). Her feature film adaptation of La bohème, produced by Finite Films, is currently in post-production.
