Speaker Bio
As a lover and practitioner of Arts, Culture and Education, these activities have had to co-exist alongside a life in consulting with McKinsey, running public industrial companies and over 30 years of private equity. Both sides of life have required focussed energy and passion, and sharing these with others in a fundraising, personal philanthropy and stewardship role.

Chairing/Trustee/Development Committee roles have not only been at the Royal Opera House, but also Chairing the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain and the City of London Sinfonia (for almost 25 years now);Trustee and Chairing Development Committee of the National Gallery for 10 years; Chair, Founder and fundraiser of the New College of Humanities, as well as the development side of my old College Trinity Oxford and business school INSEAD ( where I also teach and share the UK National Council). Of relevance to this panel, I am also a founder member of the NPAC (New Philanthropy for Arts & Culture) to stimulate philanthropy in the UK. To say nothing of personal philanthropy not only towards opera more generally, but all my passions in the above areas.

But, needless to say, Chairing Europe for Advent International Plc, one of the large global private equity funds, until a few years ago, involved plenty of fundraising and stewardship even if the anticipated returns were more financial for most!
