Gathering together to shape opera's sustainable future
The Business of Opera Summit brings the sector together around a shared challenge: how to sustain what is most valuable in opera while adapting and evolving for the years ahead.
This year's summit builds on the momentum of the inaugural event through three guiding themes:
-
Purpose - strengthening identity, collaboration and collective ambition.
-
Passion - championing the artistry and talent at the heart of the industry.
-
Performance - turning ideas into action, building a more resilient future for opera.
Join peers from across the sector, forge new collaborations and explore new ways of working as we shape opera’s next chapter together.

Partnership Opportunities
Partnering with the Business of Opera Summit is an opportunity to support meaningful progress across the sector while connecting with those shaping its future.
Inaugural Event Highlights
Our inaugural conference in October 2024 brought together leaders from across UK opera's ecosystem, who spent the day in plenary and break-out sessions sharing challenges, concerns, ideas and ambitions for the future of their organisations and the sector generally.
The conference took place at a moment of growing uncertainty for UK opera companies. We believe the conference helped focus minds on the future of opera and fostered a collective desire for greater co-operation, collaboration, innovation and shared solutions. Out of those conversations came new ideas, new partnerships and new ways of working, which continue to shape the sector as we move forwards.
We at Laidlaw Opera Trust look forward to welcoming you to the Business of Opera Conference 2026 to build on the knowledge, experience and learning gained over the past two years.
The Rt Hon. Sir Charles Haddon-Cave
President of The Grange Festival and Trustee, Laidlaw Opera Trust
